Most major cities in the world have an impressive skyline. But what separates the merely good from the best?
Condé Nast Traveller has released its picks for the 10 best skylines in the world — leaving us to begin planning our next big vacation.
These striking skylines are more than just skyscrapers and sunsets — they capture the dynamic essence of some of the world’s greatest cities.
Vancouver was the only Canadian city to make it onto the list, and although the West Coast skyline doesn’t break any records for height, there’s no denying its natural beauty as it’s surrounded by snow-flecked mountains, lush forests, and sandy beaches.
Vancouver isn’t the only Canadian city to be recognized for its beauty this week; Toronto was recently appreciated for having one of the world’s most scenic airport approaches — giving our humble country some serious bragging rights.
The top three skylines include New York, Dubai, and Hong Kong, while Vancouver’s sits in the eight spot.
“Beauty might be in the eye of the beholder, but the skylines of these top 10 cities all stand out as the most memorable, awe-inspiring horizons around the world,” wrote Condé Nast on its website.
Here are Condé Nast’s 10 best skylines in the world:

2. Dubai, United Emirates
3. Hong Kong, China
4. Paris, France
5. Shanghai, China
6. San Francisco, California
