Opening Night: SOME LIKE IT HOT at The Mirvish Theatre

We attended the opening night of Some Like It Hot at the Mirvish Theatre last night, and it’s a must-see show!

Set in the Prohibition era, this play blends romantic comedy, adventure, and the pursuit of dreams in the entertainment industry. If you loved the movie starring Marilyn Monroe, this one is for you!

The cast was outstanding, showcasing a range of talent from impressive dance numbers to numerous wardrobe changes and solo singing performances. The tap dancing and choreography were a masterclass in both performative art and cardio.

If you enjoy movies like Green Book, To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar and The Birdcage, you’ll love this play. The audience was diverse in age and engaged from curtain-up. Both acts were filled with laughter, but the second act had the crowd in hysterics!

Breakout performances from co-leads Matt Loehr (Joe/Josephine) and Tavis Kordell (Jerry/Daphne) captivated the audience as they juggled their dual roles. Their chemistry kept us invested in the storyline from start to finish. Leandra Ellis-Gaston (Sugar) embodied the voice, looks, and beauty of a Prohibition-era starlet, making her performance truly unforgettable.

Overall, the cast delivered a show filled with humour, drama, and love stories that you can’t miss. Get your tickets now at Mirvish.com!
