Small Businesses You Can continue To Support During COVID-19

These strange times have hit the businesses in our local neighbourhoods, as social isolation restrictions have continued to tighten.

Our community is filled with small, independent, locally owned and operated businesses. That’s what makes Toronto so special, but it is also what makes us particularly vulnerable at times like these.

Now more than ever, it’s important for us to support these businesses if and when we can. Here is a list of Toronto-based businesses in all categories that you can support for all your home, fitness and retail needs.

House and Home

Paper Place

A Queen West staple for many years, The Paper Place is the ideal place if you’re feeling the DIY urge. They offer curb-side pickup for their online store, as well as delivery.

Wyrth Home

Because you’re #wyrthit, brother-sister duo owned Wyrth Home is a home goods shop with the Toronto resident first in mind. Check out their awesome collection, made for living right here in Toronto.

Working closely with Canadian and Peruvian designers and makers, Cambie Design opened it’s brick and mortar shop in Toronto in 2013, and has offered gorgeous fabrics from all over the world, now, right at the click of a button.

Good Neighbour

Good Neighbour – like their name indicates – tells everything you’d want a good neighbour to have – clothes, footwear, outerwear, housewares, gifts, potions, magic beans, kidswear, razors, toothbrushes, watches, jewelry, accessories, underwear… and much more.

Outdoor and Indoor Fitness

Metro Cycle

The Ontario Government has deemed bicycle shops an essential service permitted this Parkdale staple to stay open. Getting around on two wheels is much safer than transit or Uber in times like these, and it’s critical for physical and emotional wellbeing to stay active right now, and riding your bike is a great option that upholds safe physical distancing measures. Metro Cycle offers free home deliveries with the purchase of all new bikes!–JUtkAsBF/

Jam TO

JAM is a beginner hip hop class for adults, with no experience necessary… seriously. This class is 100% for anyone who has ever wanted to try a dance class but have been too shy/nervous/scared to in the past. JAM is a fun and safe environment to try something new and let loose! And what better way to practice than in the comfort of your home? You’ll come out of this a pro!

Ride Cycle Club

RIDE is an innovative boutique concept that is challenging the status quo of indoor cycling. And now, since our only option is to be indoors, you can sign up for classes on their Instagram page, and rent a bike for your apartment or home.

Food and Beverage

Sweet Chops

Even if you don’t practice a vegan lifestyle, Sweet Chops offers hearty vegan fare, that’s packed with flavour and is good for the body. With a menu by the executive chef of 416 Snack Bar Dustin Gallagher, you will not be disappointed! Rumour has it the Jerkfruit Sammie is to die for.

Like their slogan goes, Sapsucker “pairs well with life.” This plant-based, organic & sustainably sourced sparkling water is a great little treat during the day and is tapped right here in the great true North. It is available in 3 flavours: The Original One, The Lemon One, and The Lime One.
