Shannen Doherty Shows Brutal Reality of Cancer Through Her Powerful Instagram Feed

While she was once branded as a trouble-causing diva, Shannen Doherty has offered a real, raw and heartbreaking glimpse into her realities of living with cancer.

Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2015.

As Breast Cancer Awareness month draws to a close, the former Beverly Hills 90210 actress sugar coats zero aspects of living with the disease, as she continues to document her cancer journey on her Instagram account.

This means everything from the day she shaved her head, to a recent, devastating picture snapped post-chemo treatment.

The recent throwback shot (which was posted just days after the treatment) was accompanied with a heartbreaking caption that so many cancer battlers can relate with: “#fbf to a very short bit ago. Day after #chemoday isn’t always so great. Sometimes one isn’t able to dance, or eat or even to think about the next day. Sometimes it just feels like you aren’t going to make it. That passes. Sometimes the next day or 2 days later or 6 but it passes and movement is possible. Hope is possible. Possibility is possible. To my cancer family and everyone suffering…. stay courageous. Stay strong. Stay positive. #wegotthis.#fightlikeagirl” She has shared the experience with her husband and a devoted group of friends, who appear alongside Doherty in her fight and in her feed.

Famous friends who have her back include Chelsea Handler and Sarah Michelle Geller, who have both been vocal in their support of Doherty.

Doherty even has weekly date nights with Handler, proving that laughter (at what are likely highly inappropriate jokes) really is the best medicine.

Doherty needs all the help and support she can get, especially in the wake of her August announcement that the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes. It’s definitely not keeping her down, shortly after her chemo treatment, Doherty posted a snap of her playing tennis.
