On Our Radar: Luther’s Chicken

Churchill (1212 Dundas Street West) has been running pop-up restaurants out of its kitchen for a while now but their latest collaboration has definitely got us excited. And that’s ‘cause it’s with Luther’s Chicken – a crew that’s planning on bringing your fried chicken experience to a whole new level.

We talked with Co-owner Knickoy Robinson to find out just what the deal was and a few things jumped out right away. First off, this is locally sourced, certified humane bird that we’re talking about. Secondly, their brining and seasoning process (a secret they’re not yet willing to let the public in on) produces a cut of meat that’s flavourful from the inside out. You won’t find a dry bite here – this is that moist, succulent, finger-lickin’ good kind of fried chicken. How do we know? Well, Kyle Hough (formally chef at La Cubana) will be doing the cooking, that’s how.

Operating Wednesday to Sunday from 6pm-1am, Luther’s Chicken will also be providing biscuits, macaroni salads, collared greens, fries, and corn to pair up with your two-piece meal. Don’t worry, there’ll also be a bucket option for those of you who prefer your meal to come in the I’ve-been-drinking-beer-and-dammit-I-want-chicken size. Slated to open mid-April, we’ll be sure to keep you up to date on this new Dundas West option.
