Kylie Jenner, though one of the youngest members of the Jenner Communications talent roster, has been a regular headline for media outlets around the world since news of her pregnancy first broke in September. TMZ announced in September, a mere month after Jenner’s 20th birthday – that the star was 3-months along. News of Jenner’s pregnancy rocked social media and continued to trend for the months to follow, as Kylie’s social media presence began to dwindle away.

For months, media outlets have ran with the Jenner pregnancy story as a steady stream of content. Brands were no doubt throwing themselves at Jenner in hopes of obtaining a feature, product placement – anything attached to the social media storm that was inevitably brewing. Ironically, the past 6-months in which Kylie Jenner took herself off the grid, made her more sought out than ever. The star even admitted to catching one of her employees attempt to photograph her in her own house, knowing the snap of the pregnant star could cash in hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Speaking of hundred’s of thousands – Kris Jenner had the moxie to profit off at least one of her daughter’s pregnancies, solidifying a $200,000 pay day for Khloe Kardashian. Kardashian’s pregnancy photo was cleverly branded as the beginnings of a Calvin Klein campaign. The star showcased her baby-body to the world on Instagram, though it was hard to ignore the Calvin Klein sports bra sitting atop her baby-bump. It was a mere month later that the full campaign launched with all of the Kardashian-Jenners, including a growing Kylie. Many speculated that Kylie would also sell her pregnancy announcement with Calvin Klein as the Jenners seem to make money off any and all personal moments – from Kim’s multi-million dollar televised weddings to Khloe Kardashian’s weight loss.

Yesterday, Kylie surprised her 101 million followers with both a written statement and video message about the past 6-months of speculation. Jenner’s statement read:

I’m sorry for keeping you in the dark through all the assumptions,” she said on Instagram on Sunday. “I understand you’re used to me bringing you along on all my journeys. My pregnancy was one I chose not to do in front of the world. I knew for myself I needed to prepare for this role of a lifetime in the most positive, stress free, and healthy way I knew how. There was no gotcha moment, no big paid reveal I had planned. I knew my baby would feel every stress and every emotion so I chose to do it this way for my little life and our happiness.”

“Pregnancy has been the most beautiful, empowering, and life-changing experience I’ve had in my entire life and I’m actually going to miss it,” she said. “I appreciate my friends and especially my family for helping me make this special moment as private as we could. My beautiful and healthy baby girl arrived February 1st and I just couldn’t wait to share this blessing. I’ve never felt love and happiness like this I could burst! Thank you for understanding.

The statement was accompanied by a surprisingly beautiful video – shot by Canadian videographer Tyler Ross – that garnered over 30-million views in 24-hours. Though Kylie mentioned in her statement that she had no intention of a paid reveal, the video’s monetization is still bringing in the star a fair bit of change at a thousand dollars for every million views. The home-movie Kylie made for her daughter features the behind-the-scenes of her pregnancy, with sweet shots of family, friends and boyfriend Travis Scott all the way up to her February 1st delivery. It may not be branded, but it’s a subtle and quiet way of collecting some change.
