Elevator Pitch: Describe your job in a nutshell.
I am the Founder and Principal Planner of CountDown Events Planning & Design and Creative Director of the Crème de la Crème Grand Wedding Showcase.

At CountDown Events we pride ourselves on being the most sought-after full-service event planning company; pushing the limits every day to deliver the most spectacular and extraordinary events. We combine our passions for fine cuisine, luxurious style and captivating entertainment to produce award-winning events.

As one of the most respected event production firms in the country, CountDown Events specializes in producing luxury weddings, innovative corporate events and high-society social events. Known for our unparalleled customer service, privileged access to venues and a star-studded client list ,we will ensure that every aspect of every event is planned and executed with the utmost perfection from start to finish.

Why did you start working at your company? What was the inspiration for this career route?
Being in marketing, I noticed a lack of event planners in the city that were willing to step outside of the norm and create customized events from scratch – this was the spark. I also absolutely loved the event side as it was project-based and always different. There is also a huge sense of fulfillment and satisfaction in seeing your vision and hard work come to life. I love my job!

What is the best part of what you do on a day-to-day basis? The most challenging part?
The best part is the people! I am surrounded by dynamic and talented artisans and entrepreneurs and our clients provide me with daily inspirations.

The most challenging part is introducing big ideas to Vancouver. We are still a small city experiencing growth and there is still resistance to change and going outside of the box and trying new things.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
CountDown Events and Crème de la Crème going worldwide!

What does success look like to you?
My mantra re success is: “Success is to give.”

What is the most memorable milestone in your career?
Producing and elevating the annual Crème de la Crème wedding show provides a new milestone for me every year! Hosting and collaborating with celebrity designer Preston Bailey was certainly a highlight.

Do you have any advice for other young professionals?
One: Stay curious.
Two: Work for someone you respect and admire. I’ve been very lucky to work for some amazing people and that has played a huge role in shaping my professional character.
Three: Don’t give up – failure is just as important as success in work and in life. Use those opportunities to learn and to grow.

Do you support any charities? If so, which one(s) and why is that important to you?
I give my time, funds and resources to one non-profit event every year. Also both Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and BC Children’s Hospital are partners through the Crème de la Crème Grand Wedding Showcase.

What is Notable to you?
Working for what you believe in – even if it involves significant risk.

BlackBerry, iPhone, Android, or Other?
BlackBerry and iPad.

How do you keep active, energetic and vibrant?
I’ve always found time to enjoy the outdoors and, being in Vancouver, yoga also plays a big role in my daily routine. I also train in the gym with a trainer.
