Tim Hortons has had a rough couple of years.
So bad, in fact, that last spring the company completed a 46-spot fall from grace in a ranking of Canada’s most reputable brands.
Now, Timmies is doing major work to win back some love. And it starts with a loyalty program, Tims Rewards. Yup, you guessed it: the more Tim Hortons you consume, the more free it gets. Specifically, you’ll be eligible for a free coffee, tea, or baked good every 7th time you visit Tim Hortons. A visit constitutes a purchase of more than 50 cents; visits must be at least 30 minutes apart to count as two. Tragically, bagels and Timbits do not count as baked goods.
“Tim Hortons has some of the most loyal guests in Canada and Tims Rewards allows us to say thank you,” says Alex Macedo, President, Tim Hortons. “We heard from our guests that a new rewards program had to be easy to use and redeem, that’s why we offer both a reusable card and a digital friendly app.”
Oh, and you’ll get an additional free reward if you purchase something for more than $1.50 after you first register (limited time). Not much else to say here other than that this is all pretty good.
How it works:
- 1. Visit any eligible Tim Hortons restaurant in Canada to receive a reusable loyalty card or
- 2. Download Tims Rewards to your digital wallet on your iPhone or Android device and use it the same way as you would use a reusable loyalty card or
- 3. Download the updated Tim Hortons mobile app, which allows you to track your status, scan for rewards and order directly through the app where you can earn visits and redeem rewards
