There’s now a new way to pay for your diner bills faster then you can say #foodie.
Tab, a mobile payment app for dining, has officially launched in Montreal, disrupting the traditional way of paying (see: annoyingly have to split restaurant bills with friends) with an elegant mobile solution.
With Tab, you’ll never have to wait for the bill again. And guess what, bills are split automatically, creating a more personalized dining experience for both servers and diners.
You can literally get up and go. The app handles the bill for you.

Tab launched in 2014 with over 60 of Toronto’s top restaurants and tens of thousands of diners using it. With Tab’s Montreal expansion, the app is on its way to becoming the Canadian leader in mobile payments for dining.
Diners can use the app at 14 of Montreal’s best restaurants: Joe Beef, Liverpool House, Park, Lavanderia, Tapeo, Meson, L’Orignal, Suwu, Mercuri, Buonanotte, Moishes, Ryu, Rosewood, and Sel Gras. Restaurants have adopted Tab because it provides enhanced efficiency in operations, a higher level of hospitality, improved customer experience, and an added marketing channel for their restaurant.
Here’s a little breakdown as to how the app works:
– Download the app and create a profile
– Input your credit card (it will be secure and protected)
– Go to one of the restaurants listed
– “Create a Tab” or “Join” a tab if you’re splitting bills with friends
– Tell your server: “I’m Paying with Tab”
– Enjoy your meal, and adjust your tip accordingly.
– Leave when you’re ready – you don’t need to ask for the bill
– Tab emails you your receipt
And here’s a little bonus. Tab is all about personalizing your dining experience by allowing diners to have the ability to see the name and face of their server; and conversely, servers are able to personalize their service by knowing the name and face of all paying customers.
