Elevator Pitch: Describe your business in a nutshell.
Fuzz Wax Bar is a shop dedicated entirely to waxing services for ladies and gents. No manicures, no pedicures, just waxing at its best – fast, affordable and done really, really well.

Why did you start your business, what was the inspiration?
We were both freelancers with a lot of energy and ambition. We knew about the wax bar concept from our travels abroad and were wondering why it didn’t exist here. We felt Toronto was missing out on a fabulous concept and realized that it’s not every day you find a business idea that can set a trend in a city. We started doing some research aside from our day jobs and then little by little, the idea for the wax bar became our priority. Eight months later, Fuzz was open on Queen Street West.

What is the best part of what you do on a day-to-day basis? The most challenging part?
There are a lot of perks to working for yourself, but the best part is in knowing that every decision we make on a daily basis directly reflects our long term goals and gets us one step closer to achieving them. These decisions are also the most challenging, as we have no prior entrepreneurial or aesthetics experience, so it is a never-ending learning process.

Where do you see your business going in 5 years?
We have big plans for Fuzz and want to expand quickly. Right now we are working on our second location, as well as a couple of fun branding projects.

What does success look like to you?
We were blessed with immediate success when we opened Fuzz, and ever since have continued to be steadily busy. Watching new clients walk through our door daily and getting compliments on our brand and business model is what success looks like to us. We took a chance with Fuzz and we couldn’t be happier with the results.

What is the most memorable milestone in your career?
Our opening day at Fuzz! Standing behind the counter, realizing that clients were actually walking in was terrifying, but also the most exhilarating moment ever.

Do you have any advice for other young professionals?
When you’re first starting out you have to have a plan and you have to stick to it. It’s easy to get distracted, but just remember to keep your eye on the end goal. Also, don’t be too proud to ask for help. You will be surprised at the number of people willing to lend a hand or give you a boost.

Do you support any charities? If so, which one(s) and why is that important to you?
Right now we’re not connected to one specific charity but we make it a point to participate in as many charitable events as possible and give back to the community whenever we can.

What is Notable to you?
Making a difference, whether it’s on a large or small scale, being successful but always staying true to ourselves, achieving great things, staying kind and positive – all those elements are notable to us.

Blackberry, iPhone, Android, or Other?
We’re definitely iPhone people. The iPhone makes it easy for us to work from virtually anywhere.

How do you keep active, energetic, and vibrant?
Aside from finding time to work out and do yoga, we’re always trying to find different ways to be and stay inspired.
