Canadian Blood Services warned yesterday that blood supply is critically low – the lowest it’s been since 2008 – resulting from a high number of missed appointments and cancellations.
The current blood inventory is less than three days’ worth, which is around half of the organization’s ideal five to eight-day supply. Blood types O or A are especially in demand, though all types are at worryingly low levels.
