The Social Feed Launches in Toronto

Meeting new people and making genuine connections is never a waste of time, which is exactly why The Social Feed was started. Think of it as a dinner party but more like a party at dinner, bringing together the young and social at communal tables for a unique and interactive dining experience

You’re a YP with a go get ’em attitude and a penchant for networking at events and mixers, right? What about at dinners? Check, we assume. So The Social Feed should be right up your alley.

It’s been around for a little while now, but The Social Feed just launched in Toronto this past Wednesday. It’s not necessarily a novel concept; it bears similarities to Dish Crawl. But what The Social Feed does is bring together dinner-loving foodies and the reverse malnourished for an evening of family-style dining at various restaurants throughout the city.

It works like this: Pay the cost for the dinner (includes tip and taxes); Show up; Eat a meal served like your favourite childhood dinners – platters in the middle of the table, constant requesting that a side dish be passed your way, etc – and chat up your chair’s neighbour. Notable, right?

The idea for The Social Feed stems around food as a connector. And further to that, gathering diners by way of the internet is almost connection-squared. Reggie Mulligan founded The Social Feed, which launched first in Vancouver, and now has three events (minus one since it just passed) planned here in the Big Smoke. The second, set for Marben, sold out as fast as the first, and we’re guessing that by the time this is live The Drake Hotel’s will be full up as well.

However, thanks to the sell-out success, we’re sure that more will be added the calendar in no time. For now, follow The Social Feed on Twitter, like it on Facebook, and sign up for the mailing list. We’re waiting with bibs tied for the next instalment…
