The Creative Team Behind Grinder to Open Restaurant Lea in Westmount

Westmount is getting a little bit spicier. You heard right. There’s a new culinary seed growing on Sherbrooke Street and it promises to change the scene when it opens in just a few short weeks on October 20th. Get your bibs ready...

October 20th. Mark that down.

The uber-popular Grinder is hatching an offspring, Restaurant Lea.

Jean?François Corriveau (Hachoir, Grinder), Léa D’Amboise (Hachoir, Grinder), Jérôme Cadieux (Grinder), and Loan Ngo will open a 70-seat restaurant with a distinct Portuguese and Spanish flavour on Sherbrooke Street West.

A real breath of fresh air for Westmount.

A little about the menu – Chef Matthew Doyle’s dishes will move to the rhythm of the seasons and showcase fresh ingredients punctuated by Spanish and Portuguese flavours.

Lea’s take on food is all about sharing and preparing generous portions maximizing the experience. The creative dishes will take food lovers on a journey of discovery perfectly aligned with Lea’s décor – unique and cozy. Le Hachoir and Le Grinder’s new project was designed by the genius of Zébulon Perron and will offer different textures, veneers, glass, and steel.

According to Jean-François Corriveau, “Westmount residents who patronize Griffintown’s Grinder made it very clear to us that a little neighbourhood restaurant with a similar, but more intimate, ambiance would be more than welcome in their area. Matthew Doyle, who has been with the team since the very beginning, was the obvious choice for this new endeavour. Our chef is excited about creating a daily menu inspired by the market and perfecting his dishes in a relaxed yet refined setting.”

Lea, like Grinder, will offer free evening valet service and will be open Monday to Saturday at 4922 Sherbrooke Street West.
