To many, the thought of leaving the comfort of your own home and family on Christmas Day seems unfathomable.
Especially if it means stepping foot in a mall.
Results from a recent survey by LoyaltyOne Consulting, however, reveals that Millennials are completely fine to spend the Lord’s birthday shopping.
According to the survey, 30 per cent of people in the 18 to 24 age bracket would have no problem leaving their loved ones on Christmas so they can take advantage of an extra chance to shop. The results didn’t fluctuate very much for older generations either.
Another 18 per cent of shoppers said they would make purchases if stores were open after 6 p.m. on December 25th, which is an even stronger indication of Christmas’ decline than the Starbucks holiday cup design controversy.
Encouragingly, 58 per cent of shoppers said they had no intention to ever shop on Christmas and 24 per cent said they would be completely turned off if stores were open and would be less likely to do their shopping their in the future, which somewhat restores our faith in humanity.
