In case this is news to you, Jon Stewart signed off on his 16-year career as the host of the Daily Show last night.
It was a humble, seemingly spontateous affair sprinkled with celebrity cameos and the usual self-deprecation, capped off with a pretty awesome performance of “Land of Hopes and Dreams” and “Born to Run” by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.

But the most humbling, spontaneous moment of the night came when former Daily Show protege Stephen Colbert delivered an unscripted goodbye to his former mentor, the kind of sarcastic-sentimental medley of words both hosts have banked a living on.
And yes, there were tears:
