Somebody Built a Complete Replica of Peggy’s Cove in Thailand

When you think of Canada’s East Coast, you the first image that comes to mind is probably Peggy’s Cove.

The quaint fishing settlement is pretty much the poster village for Atlantic Canada. People come from all over to explore the region’s scenic coves and harbours, sample fresh Nova Scotia seafood, and take the perfect selfie in front of that iconic lighthouse.

Most people spend a couple hours in Peggy’s Cove and head home, armed with souvenirs and pictures to remember their trip. Not Thai entrepreneur Anusit Sahachok, however.

He loved the seaside attraction so much that he built his own – halfway across the world in Chanthaburi City, Thailand.

Peggy’s Cove Resort is a “Western designed resort inspired by the charm of [the] original fisherman village,” says the attraction’s website.

“It’s very difficult to [find] architecture like this in Thailand,” Sahachok said. “I believe that Peggy’s Cove will be one of the best theme resorts in Thailand.”

The 38-room resort lets visitors stay in colourful, nautically-themed guest houses. Even the dining options are on-brand. You can get your caffeine fix at Coffee Cove, or indulge in European-Thai fusion cuisine at the Lighthouse Bar & Grill.

While Sahachok says his Peggy’s Cove is being marketed primarily to Thai and other Asian tourists, I could definitely see some homesick Canadian expats and travellers getting in on the action. And with prices starting at $126 CAD/night, it’s pretty affordable too. But if you’re staying in the capital, make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get there – the theme resort is located about 225 kilometres east of Bangkok.

Well, as the saying goes: imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
