Come April 25, you could own a piece of the most powerful woman in the world.
Or at least a piece the most powerful woman in the world used to own.
Obviously, we’re talking about Oprah.
And because she has more money and more “favourite things” than she knows what to do with, she’s auctioning off some of her belongings.
The 500-lot auction includes furniture, fine art, paintings, silver, porcelain, clothing, accessories, exercise equipment, and more (including a broken violin).
As far as clothing and accessories go, there will be six Chanel purses, Chanel and Valentino jackets, a pair of yellow Christian Louboutins, and Fendi sunglasses.
Though most fashion pieces are listed at under $500, we have a feeling that figure will likely soar – for nothing but the bragging rights alone of owning something that Oprah’s worn (or, at least, touched).
It all comes from her former Chicago apartment and will be conducted by Chicago’s Leslie Hindman Auctioneers to benefit the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation in South Africa.
The sale has an overall estimate of $850,000-$1.3 million.
One of the priciest items – a painting by Richard Edwin Miller – will set you back a cool $80,000 to $120,000. While the most affordable article is a carved wood walking stick estimated at a meagre $20-$40.
An exhibition of the items will commence on April 16th, and the actual auction will take place at 10:00am on April 25th.
Don’t worry – you don’t have to splurge on a trip to the ‘windy city;’ bidding will be offered both in person and online.
