Notable Spots to Watch the Oscars in Vancouver

With this year being the 85th Annual Oscars Awards and a line-up steeped in amazing film and talent, we can’t wait to get caught up in a bit of Hollywood-style glamour for a few hours – and found a few venues around town aiming to help us do just that

Always a sure bet for Oscar fun, head to Gastown’s own The Charles Bar (below the Woodward Building) where, once again, they’ll be spearheading some serious celebrations at their boisterous neighbourhood bar with 25% off their entire wine list, red carpet, plenty of popcorn and Stella & Dot prizes for anyone who makes correct predictions. Party starts at 4:30pm, full menu will be available and fun guaranteed.

Head to the 2nd annual Oscar bash being hosted by the Cinema Public House on Granville for a bit of Sunday fun. Tickets are $25 and will score you a front row seat, three-ourse prix-fixe dinner and entertaining banter courtesy of host Natalie Langston (NOVUS TV). Enjoy a stroll down their red carpet, champagne and canapés upon arrival. Prizes, trivia and a post-awards party aim to keep things going into the wee hours.

Party your way through Sunday and catch the Oscars while raising money for a worthy cause. The Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association (VOKRA) will be hosting its 2nd annual Oscar fundraiser at The Morrissey (1227 Granville) with 100% of ticket sales going directly back to the organization ($20-$25). There will be Oscar-themed appetizers, drink specials, prizes for best-dressed attendees and plenty of other fuzzy reasons to make this your Oscar viewing stop.
