Notable Spots for Date Night in Calgary

Calgary is known for having tons of young professionals out and about, mixing and mingling, and, of course, dating. But where to take that date? We think it depends on which number date it is; here are our suggestions:

First Date
If you haven’t been out with this person before, keep it short and sweet. You can tell if you’re up for a second date pretty quick, so no sense in going out for dinner only to start watching the clock 10 minutes in. Whether you know this person via the internet, or through some other means, you probably just want to check them out a bit, and coffee dates are perfect for this purpose. You might not want to run into other people you know, so don’t go to your regular coffee shop. We’ve scoped out Savour Coffee at 25th Ave and 4th Street SW as the perfect coffee shop for a first date. It’s central, but not Central Perk. It has great coffee and lots of tables where you can chat without neighbours. 2500 4th Street SW.

Second Date
So you know there’s some chemistry, but want to get to know them. Keep it light, fun and interactive. Not much “getting to know you” happens at a movie. Our current suggestion for Date #2 is Adult Night at the Science Centre and Thursday, June 13 is the next one. The theme on June 13 is Gravitational Pull, and the evening runs from 6pm to 10pm. There are no kids around, so you don’t have to feel bad budging in front of any little ones to interact with the exhibits. There’s a DJ and adult bevies, and you and your date can create your own hot air balloon and explore flight and lift. Click here for more information.

Third Date and Beyond
Places where you can share your dinner are great for dates. Candela’s tapas is interesting and there is a lot going on to talk about. The interior is sexy and cool, and there are tons of dishes to choose from. Have fun picking out what tickles your fancy and see if you have any dishes in common. Try to figure out how to eat some dishes that are borderline finger food. The calamari with coconut and ancho chili is delish and the chicken lollipops are fun. 1919 4th St SW
