Vancouver combines unique food experiences, opportunities to learn behind-the-scenes culinary magic from celebrity chef cooking demonstrations and culinary competitions, food, beverage and cooking demos, and plenty more.  For more info, click here.

Coming Up: Foncie’s Fotos at the Museum of Vancouver (starts June 5)
Mark your calendar for MOV’s next special exhibition, Foncie’s Fotos, featuring one of Vancouver’s most prolific street photographers. Foncie Pulice took over 15 million photos in his lifetime with images becoming a hallmark of Vancouver as he captured everyday life. Most recently, MOV has been working with the Knowledge Network project to collect Foncie’s photos for this latest installation, which truly shines a spotlight on another side to the city in an awe-inspiring and affecting way.

Opening Soon: Buckstop (833 Denman Street)
Soon enough you’ll be able to give your BBQ the night off and head to Denman’s newest little hotspot for some classic barbecue cuisine served up in serious small-plate style. Tuck into a spot at their custom, reclaimed wood bar as you sip a classic cocktail (or their killer Sangria) and indulge in seriously good grilled bites. Sink your teeth into buttermilk calamari, succulent pork belly and save room for their smoked Gouda grilled cheese. Bonus: they will stay open until 2am, perfect for those extra late-night hankerings.

Go Local: Portobello West Summer Market (May 25 – 26)
Gear up for summer and be sure to pop down to the Creekside Community Centre this weekend to check out the latest offerings courtesy of Portobello West. Featuring hundreds of local designers’ hand-crafted wares, jewellery, clothing, home accessories and more, it’s the perfect place to score unique finds. The popular pop-up artisan market runs both Saturday and Sunday from 11am until 5pm.  For more information and to get a full list of vendors participating, click here

Opening Soon: Bestie (105 E. Pender Street)
It’s been a long time coming, so bratwurst fans and sausage aficionados can rest assured that early next month the doors will finally open at Chinatown`s most anticipated new restaurant, Bestie. After a few design setbacks, this self-proclaimed `friendly little sausage and beer parlour’ is almost ready to welcome sausage fanatics into its bright and airy 25-seat space. Fuelled by a penchant for good food, co-owners Clinton McDougall and Dane Brown (whose design backgrounds have influenced the layout in a refreshing way) went to work by garnering start-up funds through Indigogo. Look for plenty of craft beer, an updated take on German street eats, and classic currywurst and hand-cut fries.

Support: Fair in the Square 2013 (Victory Square Park)
Make your way down to Vancouver’s Victory Square Park on Sunday (from 11am until 2pm) for a full day of festivities hosted by none other than CityTV’s Thor Diakow. The Day celebrates neighbours in the inner city, artists, organizations and philanthropists working to create a sense of community. Enjoy live music, a BBQ, drinks, cupcakes and plenty more as you learn more about the DTIS, Boys and Girls Clubs, Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre, and plenty more local organizations.
