Notable Now this week in Toronto: Pacino One Night Only, the opening of Wahlburgers, 'David Bowie is' exhibit at the AGO, Ali Shaheed Muhammad at 1812, Jojo Flores at CUBE and Russell Peters at UNIUN

Pacino One Night Only
Famed. Acclaimed. Tamed? Not likely. Al Pacino is in town on Sept. 10 for Pacino One Night Only at Massey Hall (178 Victoria Street). This one man show explores the highlights of one of the most celebrated careers in acting history, ranging from his time off-Broadway a few decades ago right up to present day, with the actor himself in the driving seat.

Wahlburgers
The news of a new restaurant opening may not be too exciting anymore, but when you have Mark and Donnie Wahlberg alongside brother and Chef Paul Wahlberg at the helm, it’s pretty freakin’ exciting. Wahlburgers is opening up their first Canadian outpost soon, starting with a green carpet event Sept. 9 at the venue’s soon-to-open space inside the SoHo Metropolitan Hotel (318 Wellington Street West).

David Bowie is
Enigmatic culture icon David Bowie is getting the grand treatment as ‘David Bowie is’ comes to the AGO (317 Dundas Street West). The exhibit will trace the insanity that is the David Bowie transformation, spanning five decades and over 300 pieces in the archive. Running from Sept. 25 to Nov. 27, this is the first stop on an international gallery tour.

TIFF | Ali Shaheed Muhammad at 1812
On Sept 7 at 1812 inside the Thompson Hotel (550 Wellington Street West) get in the full spirit of TIFF as Ali Shaheed Muhammad of fan fave A Tribe Called Quest takes over the tables for a special 2-hour DJ set of ear-blasting proportions. Dance and groove out with homegrown glitteratti at this one-night-only event.

TIFF | Jojo Flores at CUBE
A Notable fave (we awarded him our very own Notable DJ Award), DJ Jojo Flores is a force to be reckoned with both on and off the turnstiles. You’ll be privy to his swagger at this special TIFF-themed event on Sept. 7 at CUBE Nightclub (314 Queen Street West). Deep house, cold drinks, and a hot crowd is what to expect at this TIFF fete.

TIFF | Russell Peters at UNIUN
Canadian funnyman Russell Peters dons a different had Sept. 7 at UNIUN Nightclub (473 Adelaide Street West) as he comes to town for a TIFF fiesta. What’s the new gig? Why, he’s puttin’ on an “Old School DJ Set” for all us celeb wannabes! Snatch up tix as they’re sure to sell out, and keep your ears perked for a trademark quip or two coming from the DJ booth.
