Elephant Artist Relief Fundraiser and Morale Boosting Art Party
Calgary has had nothing short of a terrible week. Pith Gallery was one of the galleries in town to escape without property damage, and this week they are doing their part to give back to people in the arts community that were less fortunate. There will be free food served at the event and all money raised from the bar will go to helping Calgary artists who were affected by the flooding. Come out to help the cause and to support your arts community. Pith Gallery is located at 1018 9 Ave SE. Event is June 28 at 6pm.

The 52nd Street Project Teen Ensemble’s “Twelfth Night”
On June 29th, the 52nd Street Project is coming to Calgary from New York City for one night to perform their version of William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night.” The 52nd Street Project is a collective of professional theatre performers who are dedicated to making arts and literacy accessible to kids who live in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood. The play is being held at the F.R. Matthews Theater at the University of Calgary and begins at 7:30pm. The event is free. Bad Portrait
If you are looking for a different way to support your city this week, then we have just the thing for you. Buy a “Bad Portrait” to help raise flood relief funds for the Red Cross in Alberta. The very clever artist Mandy Stobo is making a name for herself with her unusual portraits that she creates by request for events in and around Calgary. Mandy has created a special portrait in light of the flooding that happened last week. Her subject: Mayor Nenshi in scuba gear. The portraits are now being printed on t-shirts and sold for $20. The artist has already raised several thousand dollars. To check out the t-shirts, click here; To donate to the Red Cross, click here.

Laurier Lounge
Laurier Lounge, the historic house turned restaurant in the Beltline, was once home to George Stanley, the designer of the Canadian Flag. On the little oasis of a patio, diners can gaze up at the buildings downtown while listening to birds chirping. Laurier Lounge is a respite for brunch on the weekend, a mid-week work breakfast or lunch or après work cocktails. Treat yourself to a Croissant Egg Sandwich and a Pink Sun (grapefruit juice, sparkling wine and blackcurrant juice) or Strawberry Crepes and a Mimosa. 1111 7 Street SW

Canadian Rockies International Rodeo and Music Festival
Big Rock Brewery presents the 20th Annual Alberta Rockies Gay Rodeo Assoication (ARGRA) event at the Strathmore Rodeo Grounds June 28 to 30.
