We all look forward to NXNE each year for the best in new and upcoming music – but this year, MiO took “new” to a whole new level.
Did we mention new?
To kick off this year’s series of free concerts at Yonge-Dundas Square, MiO launched a first of its kind app that had passersby and music junkies alike flocking to the stage to get involved in the action. With the MiO POV app and the press of a button, concertgoers were instantly transported from the crowd to the big screen, showcasing their unique point of view for the whole square to see.

The stream of live videos was the perfect backdrop for the unique lineup, which had something for everyone. From local rockers Odonis Odonis and Golden Teacher’s feel good party tunes to Danny Brown’s groundbreaking hip-hop and Sleigh Bells’ genre-bending style, the entire event was a truly original experience.
If you missed your chance to see MiO POV in action at last night’s launch, don’t worry, because MiO and NXNE will be creating unforgettable experiences all weekend long so you can still get involved in one of the most original weekends of the summer.
Friday through Sunday you can catch The MiO Squirtcar – a completely redesigned streetcar-turned-concert venue that is guaranteed to take you places you’ve never been before. (And unlike you’re daily commute to the office in June, this mobile dance party lets you get sweaty the right way).
Want more? Make a stop at King and Bathurst and hit up the Hoxton where you’ll find The MiO House hosting some of the world’s best EDM artists Friday and Saturday night.
No matter what kind of experience you’re after, MiO and NXNE have got your weekend covered.
