Lululemon’s New Flagship Store Redefines What it Means to Go Shopping

When Lululemon launched in 1998, it set out to revolutionize athletic wear. Now, the Vancouver-based company is looking to revolutionize the entire retail experience.

The yoga pants giant recently opened the doors to a new 12,000-square foot flagship location in New York’s Flatiron District, right around the corner from boutique fitness studios like Flywheel Sports, Exhale, SLT, Pure Barre, SoulCycle. This, of course, was intentional.

Lululemon’s new digs will offer a Concierge that gives shoppers recommendations for nearby fitness studios and even books classes for them in-store. It’ll also feature a community board that suggests running routes, specialty classes, and nearby dining options.

Oh, and it looks hella fly.

“Our flagship stores in particular are designed to elevate the community in new and unique ways, often serving as a testing ground for new guest experiences and retail innovations,” said Lululemon General Manager of US Retail Carla Anderson. Such experiences and innovations include a coat check, free water, coffee bar, snacks, and phone-charging stations.

The only thing missing is overnight accommodation.

Oh, and did we mention that 5,000 square feet of space will be reserved exclusively for fitness classes, monthly dinners, concerts, and art shows? Believe it.

You can also buy Lululemon products there in case that’s of interest.
