Lavalife Redesigns and Enters the Young Professional Dating World Again

Canadian-based Lavalife was on the online dating scene before you even had the Internet on your phone. To keep up with the increasing competition, the company recently revealed a revamped site that falls somewhere between Tinder and eHarmony. Their mission? To reduce the pressure and increase the fun factor

In the beginning… there was Lavalife

That’s right, before Tinder, OkCupid, and Match.com were taking up your time, Canada’s longest standing dating site was putting out commercials on a little something we like to call the TV – before you were even old enough to date.

Now, in a much-needed redesign, Lavalife.com just launched the beta stages of a new dating platform.

It’s not only an overhaul on Lavalife, it’s an altogether different approach to modern day, electronic device-facilitated dating.

Tinder and eHarmony may have some competition with the site’s approach to dating, which falls somewhere in the middle of the two platforms.

As many young professionals know from experience, it seems dating sites and apps are focused on one of two extremes: Swipe to find someone that suits your basic dating requirements like looks (Tinder), or fill out the equivalent of a midterm exam’s worth of multiple choice questions (OkCupid) to rely on complicated algorithms to find “the one” as quickly as possible.

Lavalife’s new mission is to “put the fun back into the dating process.”

As opposed to Tinder – which may be a better option for the impatient, desperate, or ADD sufferer out there – Lavalife now attempts to differentiate itself with a focus on the “journey” and building a backstory as opposed to the end game.

Claiming a “cleaner, more engaging, socialized experience” for members, Lavalife’s new mission is to move away from the high-pressure and overly serious tactics of competitor like EHarmony and Match.com, and their promises of marriage.

Hey, at this point, a date’s a date.
