Habits That Will Improve Your Quality of Life in 2025

“New year, new me!”, we all shout in unison, committing ourselves to the same goals every year. Get healthier, stop procrastinating, increase productivity! If you’re like everyone else, the lack of motivation starts to hit by February and these goals start to crumble. Life isn’t all about work and productivity. It is just as important to devote time to relaxing and enjoying yourself so that you can actually have the energy and motivation to work on your goals. Give yourself a reason to stay consistent this year by adopting these habits that will improve your quality of life!

Have a Fun Routine

You’ve heard this advice a million times, and you’ve heard it because it’s true: if you stick to a daily routine, you will be much more productive. You probably already set big goals for the year like stretching every morning, doing skincare at night, or meal prepping on Sundays. What you probably didn’t schedule is downtime. Add a bit of scheduled fun to your day, like scrolling through TikTok for 30 minutes before getting ready for bed, or watching one episode of your favourite show after work. By adding fun things into your daily routine, it won’t feel like a drag and you’re likely to maintain it!

      Start a Creative Hobby

Despite what capitalism might have you believing, having creative hobbies that are not centred on money-making is actually really valuable. Creative hobbies are a great way to unwind on stressful days! Working on a creative project like crocheting, painting, or writing, has been proven to improve your mental health and increase cognitive brain function. Plus, you’ll end up with a finished product you can enjoy. So pick a hobby and get creative!

        Stimulate Your Mind

We always exercise to keep our body strong, but the mind needs exercise, too! Doomscrolling for hours on end is not exactly the best exercise for our mind. Luckily, stimulating the mind doesn’t have to be so hard! Make an effort to stimulate your mind everyday, like doing a crossword puzzle or learning a new language. You can also subscribe to a newsletter, like our own Notable Daily, and learn something new everyday! Doing exercises for your mind, no matter how small, keeps your brain stimulated and is great for self development!

          Schedule your Social Life

Having an active social life is very important, so it shouldn’t be treated like a cheat day. Start intentionally making time for your social life instead of waiting until your big project is over or something exciting happens in your town. Small things, like having a quick coffee with a friend every week or monthly family game nights, will make you feel much more connected to your loved ones. You will be motivated and happier when you have something to look forward to.

          Document everything

It’s a crazy one, but having written reflections or media of your life has its perks. It gives you a chance to look back on the past and reflect on how much you’ve grown. You can document your life in various ways: writing daily journal entries, saving receipts in a scrapbook, or doing vlogs! It will also encourage you to start more projects and do more fun things. Start documenting your life now and get to know yourself a little better at the end of the year when you look back at all the things you’ve done!
