St. Patrick’s Day is one of the biggest party holidays of the year. Any loud and proud St. Pat’s fans definitely wish there was more than one day to celebrate green beers and good cheer. Lucky for all of us, there’s one perfect party to get started on St. Patrick’s Day celebrations – the 6th Annual Lucky Ball Charity Fundraiser!
The Lucky Ball first started in 2013 with a generous donation of $10,000 by The Brad Lamb Realty/Sennheiser to the Fort York Food Bank (FYFB). Fort York Food Bank is a grassroots charity organization that directly assists both families and individuals in need who live in downtown Toronto. FYFB helps over a thousand people every month by feeding the hungry with groceries and hot meals, safe housing, a supportive and secure environment where they may find jobs and appropriate social/community programs. While $10,000 on its own could make a huge difference in the lives of many Torontonians, the FYFB’s board of directors thought that with the help of the city, they could make this money grow. And boy, did it ever.
This one donation quickly grew into The Lucky Ball Charity Fundraiser – a pre-Saint Patrick’s Day party who’s proceeds would go to helping Torontonians that depend on FYFB. Lucky Ball, a St. Patrick’s Day-themed party. The original donation was used to rent a venue and pay for staffing. Molsons (Heineken) sponsored beer for the party. Brendan Canning of Broken Social Scene agreed to DJ the event. Whitney Pizale (W Events) and Lindsay Grange (Rethink Breast Cancer) offered to plan the party. SheDoesTheCity.com came on as a media sponsor and Chris Murphy at CIBC stepped up to cover the cost of decor and any other expenses. Not only did the party make back the original $10,000 donation, but was able to raise nearly $30,000 for Fort York Food Bank with the help of 300 influential young professionals just like you.
This swanky, cocktail-attire event has quickly become one of Toronto’s favourite St. Patrick’s Day parties allowing guests to enjoy great music, hors d’oeuvres, gift bags and the oh-so important open bar while giving back to their community. Over the past six years, thousands of young professionals have raised over $130,000 dollars by attending The Lucky Ball, truly making it one of the coolest and most important parties you’ll go to all year.
To make matters even better, this year’s Lucky Ball Charity Fundraiser will be hosted at Amsterdamn Brewhouse at 245 Queens Quay West – an amazing venue and amazing news for all you beer lovers. The Lucky Ball will take place on March 1st from 7p.m. to 2a.m. so save the date, call some friends and check out http://www.luckyball.ca for more info and more importantly, tickets!
