It’s almost summer – and you know what that means.
It’s time to splurge on a few staples to take you through the season. So we spoke to stylist Renee Kaylor to find out the top trends of the season and where we could get our well-manicured hands on them. As it turns out, you don’t have to look any further than the newly renovated and re-branded Yorkville Village.
“Adding a little piece of the trend can keep a young professional fashion-forward, while still being conservative enough in a business setting,” says Kaylor. “This season’s trends may appear a little over-the-top for more conservative professionals as opposed to creative ones but, if you can have more fun with your wardrobe, it’s good to add pieces that are a bit on-trend without being overly trendy,” says Renee.
And what young professional couldn’t use an outfit (or ten) that can keep up with them from the office to the after-party?

Trend #1: Netting, Mesh and Grommets
Be easy, breezy this summer with airy mesh and netting. Conveniently, Yorkville Village has you covered. “When we’re talking about the mesh netting trend in a business setting, going with something that has mesh that’s not completely see-through or isn’t completely distressed is a good idea,” says Kaylor. For a subtle take on this trend go with a lace up grommet V-neck or mesh accessories such as a belt.

Trend #2: 70s Inspired Fringe and Suede
With its abundance of music festivals, the summer invites more of a carefree, 70s-inspired look. For that reason, you’ll find fringe and suede in every colour this season. Take this trend to the office with clean lines and simple styles,” says Kaylor. “Limit the fringe to your accessories for a more professional look.”

Trend #3: Lightweight Soft Denim
The casual days of summer call for denim; the lighter, the better. Skinny jeans, slimming pants and denim dresses still prevail this season. cop. copine and Judith Charles have plenty of soft denim options to choose from. “Denim a no-go at work? Don’t fret, you can still pull off this trend,” says Kaylor. “Skip the skinny jeans and opt for a lightweight soft denim trench for your new summer coat” This trend applies to you too, men.

Trend #4: Bright Tangerines and Fiesta Reds
Shine as bright as the sun this season with eye-popping shades of tangerine and fiesta reds. Scoop up bold finds at Andrews. “When the weather is hot, turn up the heat in your wardrobe,” says Kaylor. “If a red suit is too intense for the office, add a pop of colour with your accessories.”

Trend #5: Head-to- Toe Neutrals
Stay away from the red wine (actually, who are we kidding) – this summer is all about the head-to-toe neutrals. At philip, you’ll find relaxed white tees, that perfect off-white blazer, neutral sweaters, and accessories to complete the look for every young professional male. ”The easiest way to achieve a polished look this season is monochromatic neutrals,” says Kaylor. “For the ladies, mix in a touch of colour with the lightest hints of blush, lilac or buttery yellow.”
