It’s undeniable that sunglasses are the most essential and functional summer accessory. Not only do they protect your eyes from wind, dust, and sun, they complete every summertime look and thankfully have the power to they hide any evidence of a rough night. Though we expected designers to offer a more progressive selection of eyewear this summer, one of the trendiest sunglass shapes is actually the first popular style to ever sweep the nation. The cat eye silhouette was introduced in the 1950s and reached iconic status through major Hollywood stars such as Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor and Marilyn Monroe. Though this is a classic shape, designers have taken a divergent path, from softer structuresto bold, modern-day embellishments. We let our eyes be our guide and scoured the runways for the most celebrated cat eye frames this season.
