9th Annual Taste of Yaletown Takes Over Vancouver

Young professionals can delight at the fact that for the next several weeks (or thereabouts) they can skip kitchen duty or give their local watering holes a rest and head out to Yaletown for a culinary treat that is Taste of Yaletown

Vancouver’s Taste of Yaletown brings together culinary creations in one of the city’s best dining districts with an epic showcase of sips, sights and tastes – all clustered within about a four-block radius. Starting tomorrow, October 16th through until the 27th, hungry YPs can satisfy their appetites at 30-plus different restaurants offering up innovative pairings through a selection of tiered prix-fixe menus now offered for both lunch and dinner.

Starting at $25, $35 and $45, have your pick of any combination of food and drink, or be adventurous and partake in special in-house events (new) this year. We’ve rounded up a few that sound notably interesting below…

Parallel 49 Beer Tasting is offering up a sampling of their latest brew at Yaletown’s Urban Fare on October 25. Check out an array of sips courtesy of this brand-new East Van brewery and learn more about the city’s flourishing craft beer scene before grabbing a bite.

In keeping with a brew-friendly theme, make sure to grab a ticket for Xoxolat’s unique chocolate, beer and bacon pairing seminar.  Sample exquisite chocolates, craft beer and savoury bacon and learn about why these three items are the perfect fit.

One of our favourite Notable spots to grab a bite, The Parlour, is hosting a special instructional menu tasting that doubles as a crash course in the basics behind running a successful restaurant on October 21st. You’ll get fed, sample through wine/beer (optional) and, if you harbour a desire to open your own restaurant one day, learn all about the ins, outs, ups and downs to be expected.

Check out RIPE: Vancouver Farmer’s Markets’ Dinner Celebration at The Roundhouse, which will be a featured event at the 5th Annual Sustenance Festival. Enjoy a feast of market fare, signature cocktails, live entertainment, micro-brewed beer and grub courtesy of (not-so0Yaletown favorites) Vij’s, Campagnolo, Chicha, Burdock & Co and more.

Unwind from all the eating and partake in a Split Shift Community Yoga class (hosted by YYoga by donation). Funds raised from these classes will go toward the Tip Out To Help initiative for the BC Hospitality Foundation for the month of October.

Finally, be sure to head out to RAW Canvas Lounge for some live music during Taste of Yaletown. They’ve got several awesome acts on schedule to entertain. After your multi-course menu, walk it off and settle in for a nightcap or late-night painting party while you take in the tunes. Shows play on Thursda,y October 17th and 25th.
