Sadly, when the Oakland A’s announced they would have an LGBT night on June 17, some ticket holders weren’t so supportive, and said they wouldn’t go to the game.
In a game-saving move, however, pitcher Sean Doolittle and his girlfriend bought the tickets no one wanted so that the stadium would be full.
And that’s how you handle that.
Doolittle’s girlfriend, Eireann Dolan, whose two moms who both fans of the team, was the one to make the announcement in a blog post.
This excerpt from that post pretty much sums it up:
So, A’s fans; if attending a baseball game on LGBT Pride Night makes you at all uncomfortable, it is probably a good idea to sell your tickets. And I have the perfect buyer. ME!
If you’d like to sell your tickets to June 17th’s LGBT Pride Night game, I will buy them from you at face value. As many as I can. No judgments. No questions asked.
Dolan plans to donate any tickets she purchased to the Bay Area Youth Center’s Our Space community for LGBTQ youth so that the tickets don’t go to waste and fans can enjoy a full stadium.
Dolan also said she would purchase as many of the tickets as she could out of her pocket, and Doolittle said that he would match any tickets she purchased. They have also started a GoFundMe program to fill the stadium with any remaining tickets.
As she puts it, it’s a win/win.
We couldn’t agree more.
