Appropriately dubbed ‘Made in Strathcona’ takes place on May 31st and again on June 7th and is set to include educational tours through the buzzing neighbourhood granting the public an insider’s opportunity to get to know local businesses that have been building a seriously notable reputation in Vancouver.
As part of this inaugural event, ‘Made in Strathcona’ will offer the opportunity for the public to explore the inner workings of some of Vancouver’s most creative and diverse businesses located in the Strathcona area (a diverse area that has long been one of the most historic residential communities in the city).

As of recent, a unique combination of some of Canada’s most well-known brands and up-and-coming talent have set up shop in Strathcona’s business hub (which is tucked in between the boundaries of Clark Drive, Gore Avenue, Venables Street and Railway Street). The tours (running from 1pm to 3pm daily) aim to showcase a diverse array of businesses that have successfully set up shop, including local Cafes and catering companies, longstanding manufacturing businesses, new creative agencies and some of the city’s hidden gems.
The tour will include information, demonstrations and the chance to interact with business owners, witness production methods and sample some of the city’s finest product and services at a cost of $10.
Over the years, the area has experienced steady growth, both residential and commercial, which has made it a very attractive go-to hub for new business development with young and established entrepreneurs looking to set up affordable shop in a trendy area. Strathcona is now home to more than 500 businesses in Vancouver and is one of the most stable communities in the city. It’s a melting pot of talent and vision with everything from established manufacturing companies to cutting-edge creative agencies.
The ‘Made in Strathcona’ tours will encompass four unique categories of tours hosted over two days with the BIA inviting attendees a post-tour chance to stick around and enjoy some of the best food and beverage companies in the area’s own landmark, The Settlement Building (formerly known as Vancouver Urban Winery), for what is bound to be a wine-fuelled reception.

On Saturday, May 31st, the tours will showcase Strathcona’s manufacturing companies and the area’s manufacturing and ‘hidden gems’ such as YEW Woodshop, The Vinegar Factory, Shop Wrong, Boardroom ECO Apparel, Wiens Studios and Special Screencraft Printers.
The following weekend’s June 7th tour incorporates the food and beverage, catering and creative community and features Eclipse Awards, Pacific Restaurant Supply, The Butler Did It Catering Co., A.G.R.O. Roasters, Eclipse Awards, Propellor Design and Christine Lingerie.
