Coachella and Lollapalooza Ban Selfie Sticks: Will Other Festivals Follow?

It isn’t going to be as easy as you had anticipated to snap a selfie at an upcoming summer music festival. Both California’s Coachella Festival and Lollapalooza have banned the use of selfie sticks. Will others follow suit...

It’s all fun and games until someone takes the selfie stick away.

And that’s just what some of North America’s biggest summer music festivals are doing.

In doing so, they’ve made it more difficult to partake in the biggest music festival pastime of the past eight years: posting an epic video or pic to social media.

The ban takes into account the safety threat associated with the sticks, but also the fact that they’re really annoying. Coachella’s website clearly bans “Selfie sticks/Narsisstics.”

Chicago’s Lollapalooza jumped on board, banning “GoPro attachments like sticks, selfie sticks, and monopods.”
Looks like you’ll have to focus more on the music and start perfecting the ‘old-fashioned’ art of the taken-by-hand-selfie.

How quaint.
