Some pretty amazing things can happen when humans come together for the greater good.

In this case it was all about rescuing an Orca that got stranded on rocks on the northern coast of B.C. this past Wednesday.
The For Whales group received a call about the mammal being stuck early in the morning on Wednesday that prompted them to act so fast that the Orca ended up surviving.
Over 6 hours were spent keeping the Orca cool by covering it in wet blankets, sheets and cold water until the tide finally rose high enough to allow the it to swim away into freedom.
Members of the World Wildlife Fund and the Git G’at Guardians from Hartley Bay were also on scene.
The group posted some emotionally beautiful images of the beached Orca’s rescue on their Facebook, which might just tug at even the toughest of heartstrings. From the Facebook post:
“It was a team effort, and fortunately on some level this transient orca understood that we were trying to help. She cried often, which tore at our hearts, but as the tide came up there were many cheers as this whale was finally free after 6+ hours of being stuck on this rock.”
Free Willy indeed.
