Paint for Peace (April 12, 1046 Hamilton Street)
Paint for Peace is a unique experience that knits together an evening of live entertainment featuring some of Vancouver’s top local artists for live painting in support of one fantastic charitable cause. Paint for Peace will take place on Saturday, the 12th of April, from 2pm to 5pm at RAW Canvas Lounge. Head down, grab a snack and drink as you cheer on artists painting live to raise funds and awareness for impoverished youth in South Africa. Learn more here.

Caravan World Events (April 13, 650 Hamilton Street)
Take in the powerful sounds of the Soweto Gospel Choir – a multiple Grammy-winning group – in Vancouver for one night only on Sunday, April 13th at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.  It will be an unforgettable and moving evening featuring exciting music, singing, rhythm, dance and more. This performance is done as both a tribute to Nelson Mandela and celebration of the 20th anniversary of the end of apartheid.  For tickets and all the details, click here.

Verses Festival (until April 12, various venues)
Don’t miss your chance to see 40 poets set to participate in the 2014 Canadian Individual Poetry Slam Championships. In the first night of bouts (on April 10th), the participating poets will perform in four-minute and one-minute poems. In the second night of bouts (on April 11th), they will perform two-minute and three-minute poems. Learn more about this weekend grand poetry slam here.

North Shore Writers Festival (April 11-12, 120 W 14th Street)
Back to celebrate its 15th year, the North Shore Writers Festival invites Writers and Readers to another fantastic literary weekend at the North Vancouver Public Library.  Check out this year’s lineup of speakers, seminars and full schedule of events.  Get ready to let your creativity flow and register for free in advance here.

Now on: World Ski & Snowboard Festival (April 11 – 20, Whistler)
This Friday marks the start of two weeks worth of slope-side action, entertainment and fun as the World Ski & Snowboard Festival returns to Whistler Blackcomb.  Make it a weekend of spring skiing and enjoy exploring all the action on the slopes and in the village at this interactive festival. Catch top-notch DJs, take in the OLYMPUS 72-hour Filmmaker Showdown, check out the Silent Disco and awe-inspiring board and ski demos for starters.
