As production schedules come to a halt for a few weeks over the holiday season, Hollywood’s finest are finally given some time to spend with their family, friends, and significant others.
And what better way to finally unwind than with a little break from Tinseltown to ring in the New Year?
So if Santa happened to bring you buckets of cash this year, and you want to combine your own trip with a little star gazing, you may want to consider the following celebrity vacation hot spots this year.

1. Miami, Florida, USA
New Year’s Eve in Miami and celebrities are practically synonymous – whether they’re in town to host a bash at an overpriced nightclub or to lounge on the beaches, jog the boardwalk, and eat and drink like the entertainment world royalty that they are. You’ll find them poolside at the Setai, (a known hotel of choice among celebs like Gisele and Tom Brady, Jay-Z, Beyonce, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Bono), The Delano, The Shore Club, and partying at Le Fontainebleau.
2. Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Not only is Cabo San Lucas stunning and filled with top-tier “A-list only” hotspots, it’s also close to home for Los Angeles residents – so they can hop in the jet and just go for a few days. Celebs who love Cabo include Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Cameron Diaz, and George Clooney (who rang in 2012 with then girlfriend Stacey Keibler at El Dorado Golf and Beach Club). Some of Hollywood’s most stylish ski bunnies will forgo the beach and hit the slopes – and bars – in Aspen for the holidays. They may opt to stay at A-list favourite hotel, The Little Nell, where celebs like Goldie Hawn, Kate Hudson, Britney Spears, and Heidi Klum have all been spotted enjoying the après ski scene in the hotel’s Living Room.
4. Bora Bora, French Polynesia
With its turquoise lagoons, tropical valleys, and a price tag typically reserved for the rich and famous, it’s not surprising that Bora Bora is a vacation spot of choice among A-listers. Also not surprisingly, The Four Seasons remains a celeb favourite while there. If in need of a little romance, some of Hollywood’s hottest couples may also stay in one of the overwater bungalows at the St. Regis Bora Bora Resort, which, as you may recall, is one of our top sexiest hotels in the world. Celebs that call Bora Bora a vacation destination of choice include Nicole Kidman, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Quincey Jones.
5. Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
Hollywood’s hard partying set always flocks to Sin City to ring in the New Year. This year is no exception; on New Year’s Eve, Snoop Dogg will be found at Tao in the Venetian in a roaring 20s-themed celebration; Lil John will spin his hits at Surrender Nightclub; Bruno Mars and Jermaine Dupri will toast the New Year at Tryst Nightclub at the Wynn, and hometown hottie himself, Drake will be in fine form at Marquee at The Cosmopolitan. Lady Gaga and Britney Spears are also performing that night – and likely partying it up after. So, if you’re feeling ambitious…
6. Maui, Hawaii, USA
With its mix of high-end shops, luxurious resorts, top-notch restaurants, and pristine beach, it’s not surprising that Maui is a vacation hotspot over the winter months for Hollywood’s most recognizable faces. Recent celeb guests to the island include Jennifer Garner and hubby Ben Affleck, Megan Fox, Kate Hudson, and Justin Bieber with his on-again off-again, Selena Gomez.
7. St. Barts (Territorial collectivity of Saint Barthélemy), France
With its scenery, high-end retail, and superior cuisine (where a meal could cost as much as your rent), St. Barts is also a hot-ticket celeb spot; often heralded as a playground for the uber rich and famous. New Year’s Eve is no exception, when the island is at the height of its tourist season and the A-listers reunite with fellow A-listers on massive yachts that us normal folk could likely get lost on. If they forgo the yacht (but not the private jet), they can also be found sipping champagne at Eden Rock. Celebs like Jessica Alba, Sting, Kate Moss, and Jay-Z and Beyoncé are often found on the island in their down time.
