There was a satisfactory finality to ‘Breaking Bad’ when the groundbreaking series came to a close in 2013.
Audiences were mostly fine with how it ended. Another season wouldn’t make sense. There was no other reasonable conclusion.
Now, it appears as though the franchise’s overdosed corpse will be revived because that’s just how things go in entertainment. Yes, they’re making some sort of ‘Breaking Bad’ movie.
By they, I mean series creator Vince Gilligan. Which is promising. According to numerous Hollywood sources, Gilligan is working on a two-hour project called “Greenbrier” that “tracks the escape of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom.”
Neither Bryan Cranston nor Aaron Paul have confirmed their participation yet, though the scarce plot details suggest Paul’s Jesse Pinkman character will have a role.
The movie will be produced in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where ‘Breaking Bad’ was filmed over a six-year period. The New Mexico film industry and Sony Pictures Television will collaborate on the project. Both parties were also behind the original series and Gilligan’s ‘Better Call Saul’.
Either this turns out an admirable reincarnation or something like Sex and the City 2.
Let the fan theories begin.
