One thing we’re looking forward to is revisiting the world of cocktailing our way through the summer. To help get us in the mood, Kale & Nori has stepped up to the mixology plate, working with the folks at Legacy Liquor Store to bring us another edition of their much-loved “Bittered Sling Bistro” bi-weekly series (takes place Wednesday, February 8th starting at 7pm). Formerly known as “The Cocktail Kitchen”, this competitive, inventive series is one that’ll tempt taste buds and satisfy thirst.
To get the evening started, a casual reception invites guests to mix and mingle while enjoying a variety of specially-paired hors d’oeuvres, courtesy of Chef Jonathan Chovancek. Wash it all down with the spirited sips created by guest bartender Jon Richard (of The Vancouver Club), who’ll be at play behind the bar working his magic using featured Zubrowka “Bison Grass” Vodka. Squeeze in some noteworthy networking while you take in the stunning waterfront Olympic Village setting prior to dinner.
Next, enjoy a well-thought tasting-style menu featuring seasonally-inspired dishes meant to compliment the evening’s selected spirit. This collaborative approach to dining is meant to challenge your perception of just how vodka can be enjoyed. A sampling from this week’s menu reveals diners can expect a tantalizing taste of coastal goodness: smoked oysters (vegan option available), Albacore tuna and chocolate-y panna cotta have our stomachs growling already!
We’re keen to see what clever cocktail creations Richard comes up with; diner’s offer up their vote after each course, ultimately determining if the night’s bartender makes it to the final competitive round (and wins a grand prize).
With only a few $60 tickets left for this fantastic evening, purchase them here and score yourself a spot at their cozy communal table.
