We get it; there are many causes you’d love to support, but charity and fundraising events can take a major toll on the wallet – and that’s why you need to be choosy in deciding which ones to hit up.
Meaning, they’re always worth the price tag if you’re invested in the cause…and if it happens to involve a memorable, multi-sensory event that can’t be missed, all the better.
Basically, if you’re going to have FOMO over anything this spring, it should be for missing any of these six events.
1. The Baumler Family Foundation Gala in support of the Baumler Family Foundation
If there’s anything that’s going to break the ice among guests at a charity party, it’s karaoke – especially when it involves some of the country’s most notable faces. On Thursday, May 21, the Baumler Family Foundation Gala returns for its third annual event, held at the Ritz Carlton. The evening begins with a cocktail reception with a silent auction and live music, and is followed by a gourmet dinner and – the highlight – celebrity karaoke (yes, they’ll let you sing too).2. Power Ball in support of the Power Plant Gallery
Power Ball is always one of the best events of the year. Not only is the annual fundraiser for the Power Plant Gallery planned by power team Candice & Alison, it offers an indoor/outdoor party that’s full of unique (and very Instagram-worthy) art installations, performances, and gourmet grub. Taking place on Thursday, June 4, this year’s theme, “Appetite for Excess” investigates the fine line between decadence and debauchery in what promises to be a creative, multi-sensory experience. For all you foodies, a highlight will include a Food Performance by renowned American artist Jennifer Rubell, notorious for her large-scale, food-centric works, complete with the help of the city’s most influential chefs and business owners.3. Mad Hot Ballet in support of the National Ballet of Canada
One of the best parts of the National Ballet of Canada’s annual Mad Hot Ballet event is that it’s held at the fairytale-like Four Season’s Centre for the Performing Arts. Taking place on Wednesday, June 17, this year’s event is centered on a theme of “lost in Venice,” and is inspired by the mysterious city of Venice. Highlights include a performance of short works chosen by artistic director Karen Kain, a cocktail and hors d’oeuvres-filled reception, and the chance to dine and dance with dancers from the National Ballet.4. The Pink Party in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation of Ontario
The Pink Party returns this year – a few months later than usual and with a different twist: celebrity poker. The Pink Party will host two events: a celebrity poker tournament on Thursday, June 18 at the Capitol Theatre from 5:30pm until 9:00pm (followed by a pre-party until 2am), and an invite-only Mansion Party edition of the Pink Party on Thursday, July 16, where the final table will be held. The poker potion will include 15 tables, 15 celebs, and 150 poker players, all vying for an epic VIP Las Vegas travel package.5. Launch Party at the Gardiner Museum to support their Young Patron’s Circle
Following the lead of the ROM, the Gardiner Museum is launching their very own Young Patrons’ Circle for the young professional crowd, and celebrating with a not-to-miss party. Held at the Gardiner Museum on Friday, June 19, the party also celebrates the Canadian National Ballet School’s Creative Challenge. Highlights include a dance performance by the National Ballet School, ceramic art courtesy of the RBC Emerging Artist People’s Choice Award Exhibition, a video installation, eats from Food Dudes, and the sounds of the always-reliable Bellosound.6. All-Star Gala in Support of SickKids
Party like they do in the big leagues on Friday, June 26. The All-Star Gala in Support of SickKids will fill Arcadian Court with 1200 young professionals for its first ever event. Hosted by TSN’s Cabbie Richards, the event will feature performances by Canadian artists including Juno Award Nominee Glenn Morrison and offers an opportunity to mix and mingle with past and present pro athletes from the NHL, NBA, CFL, MLS and MLB. Added perks include an open bar, surprise DJs, and a live auction. #NOTABLE
